Italian Chicken Puree

 

The bariatric pureed diet is not for the faint of heart. LetÂ’s face it.

Although, congratulations on finishing your liquid diet! Now you get to embark on some very soft textured foods! It doesn’t have to be all bad. Keep in mind all bariatric programs differ in the recommendations so review your guidelines and then get creative with adding flavor to those options!

This recipes allows you to enjoy the flavors of a Italian Chicken or other Italian inspired meal while still focusing on very soft ingredients. The KEY here its TINY bites, go SLOW, pause in between every bite, and stop at the first sign of fullness. Listen to that new pouch and have fun embarking on new flavors again!

Canned chicken can be made several different ways to keep your pureed and soft phase diet more exciting. Italian Chicken Puree - Bariatric Pureed Diet

Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup canned chicken
  • 1 1/2 tbsp tomato sauce
  • 1/8 tsp salt
  • 1/8 tsp pepper
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning

Instructions

  • Place all ingredients into a small blender or use the back of a fork to blend ingredients until well incorporated and mixture looks soft.
  • Move to bowl and microwave 30 seconds.
  • Optional variation: add low-fat cottage cheese or ricotta cheese for a lasagna style meal.
