Greek Steak Bowl

Thinly sliced steaks make this Greek Steak Bowl quick and pouch friendly
Thinly sliced steaks
Recently I have been on a kick purchasing the thinly sliced sirloin steak from Aldi. To be more specific, it’s labeled “Black Angus Beef Thin Sliced Sirloin Tip Steak for Carne Asada.”
When you open the package and remove the meat, it may surprise you that it is really thin and really large. It can almost be hard to find where it ends because it’s a large oval that has been wrapped up into the packaging!
This is why I like it:
– It cooks quickly and you don’t have to guess if it’s cooked in the middle
– It’s thin to begin with so if you cut the bites small, it helps to keep it bariatric friendly for your pouch
How I prepare this dish
I use kitchen shears to cut the steak into strips. They are maybe three inches long and one inch wide (as a total guess).
Then I sprinkle the seasoning over the meat and toss it all together.
I cook the steak strips in batches on the stove top, removing the cooked pieces to a bowl with a lid to keep warm.
I’ve used the steak strips for a couple different recipes but this Greek bowl is very fast and flavorful. I have a Pampered Chef Greek Seasoning on hand but you can also make a melody of classic Greek seasonings like basil, oregano, rosemary and thyme. Even a small pinch of cinnamon and nutmeg can bring in some great flavor!
For the toppings
I have made my own Greek Yogurt dip on the side several times. While I’m still up for doing this if I needed to, I will say that I tried the Tzatziki Greek Yogurt (also from Aldi) and the flavor is awesome!
I pair the steak with peeled and diced cucumber and cherry tomatoes cut in half. Sometimes I sprinkle crumbled feta on the top. Then I add the Tzatzki sauce to get a little sauce in each bite.
