Parmesan Turkey Burger – Bariatric Recipes
If you love the flavors of Parmesan Baked Chicken or if you’ve ever made my Pepperoni Pizza Chicken, this is recipe is right up your alley.
Turkey burgers are awesome. I think I prefer the flavor to beef, although I like a good lean beef hamburger too. When my grocery store didn’t have any ground chicken available (which was my original plan) I switched gears to ground turkey. Not a problem though, it was still delicious!
You can always add more toppings and flavors to this recipe. I had a bit of fresh basil but it didn’t have to have it.
I also loved that I could broil these burgers and felt they were even easier to make this way. You can always stove top prepare these but I think you’ll agree the oven is the way to go.

Ingredients
- 1 lb ground turkey (or chicken)
- 1 egg
- 1/2 cup grated parmesan cheese
- 1 tbsp dried oregano
- 1 tbsp dried thyme
- 8 oz can tomato sauce
- 3 slices part-skim mozzarella cheese, cut in half
Instructions
- Set oven to broil.
- Combine turkey, egg, parmesan cheese, oregano, thyme and 1 tbsp tomato sauce in a bowl. Mix well to combine.
- Form mixture into 5 patties and place on a baking stone. (I used my Pampered Chef® Large Bar Pan but you can use any baking dish if needed).
- Place burgers directly under broiler. Let broil for about 15 minutes. Remove from oven and top each with 1 slice of mozzarella and about 1 tbsp of tomato sauce per patty (or more). Place under the broiler for another 30-60 seconds. Remove and serve with fresh basil.
